The Governor of Adamawa State, Bala Ngilari, has urged Nigerians not to trivialise the issue of insurgency in the country.
Ngilari said those affected by the activities of Boko Haram, especially those who have witnessed the atrocities perpetrated by the sect, will appreciate the efforts being put into containing the insurgency.
The governor spoke in Lagos on Tuesday when members of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum had an interaction with the media and civil society organisations.
Ngilari said it was worthy to commend President Goodluck Jonathan and the military for containing the insurgency in the North East.
He said of all the local governments under the control of Boko Haram in Adamawa State, it was only Madagali that is yet to be fully liberated.
Saying that he is from Madagali, Ngilari said the atrocities perpetrated by the Boko Haram sect in the town remains unimaginable.
He said in just one house in the town, over 120 corpses were counted when he visited.
He added: “You won’t even be able to watch some of the scenes if you visit the place.”
Ngilari expressed the hope that the military will soon liberate the town.
He said the decision to postpone the general election was commendable in the light of the fact that many people would have been unable to vote if the polls had gone ahead as scheduled.
