The first African baseball league will operate in a non-traditional season during the winter months of November-March annually, catering to the Rookie and Single A level professional baseball market.
The marketing strategy is to position the African Baseball League as the preferred US & Global alternative to Latin and Caribbean winter league baseball.
The tournament launching the league will comprise of the top six teams preceding 2012 invitational events in Africa, which includes South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Uganda and Cameroon.
These six teams will culminate in the capital city of Yaounde, Cameroon from January 5 to 12, 2014 in a weekly tournament launching the African baseball league, which will be preceded by the opening of the Academy for boys and girls with primarily focus on educational and leadership skills.
The start-up budget for the entire project is estimated at over $1 million, with the possibility of creating 20,000 jobs in over 15 African countries.
The first invitational tournament for 2012 is tagged “MOUNT CAMEROON BASEBALL SERIES,” which will feature Cameroon vs Ghana in a week event amidst social, economic and philanthropic events.
This is the first ever independent professional baseball event granting multiple opportunities for the Youths of Africa to attained life skills and development through sports.
