The governorship candidate of Labour Party in the June 21 governorship election in Ekiti State, Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, on Tuesday led other members of the party to defect to the All Progressives Congress.
The declaration was made at the Iyin Ekiti country home of Bamidele during a press conference.
It was attended by leaders of the party across all the 16 council areas of the state.
Leaders of the LP at the press conference were the state Chairman, Akin Omole; Femi Adeboyejo; Chief Ropo Ige; Chairman of the Elders Forum, Prof. Joseph Oluwasanmi; Chief Oluwayemisi Olumilua; and Bamidele’s running mate, Alhaja Mariam Ogunlade, among others.
Bamidele said their going back to the APC was a “home coming”.
He, however, said it was not because the APC has won at the national level.
He promised that the APC would be better positioned and focused in the state.
