ASUP suspends strike, school resumes Tuesday

The Academic Staff union of Polytechnics has suspended its 10-month-old strike.
ASUP confirmed the suspension of the strike on Saturday morning.
The strike commenced in October 2013.
The decision to suspend the strike was taken by the union’s National Executive Committee, which met in in Abuja.
The National Publicity Secretary of ASUP, Clement Chirman, confirmed the suspension of the strike.
Chirman equally said that the striking lecturers have been directed to resume on Tuesday.
The leadership of ASUP had on Thursday met with the new Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau.
Shekarau was inaugurated as the Minister of Education by President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday at the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
