Femi Asenuga, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mutual Benefits Life Assurance Ltd., has predicted victory for the Super Eagles at the Russia 2018 World Cup.
Asenuga made the prediction in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Monday.
He, therefore, called on Nigerians to give the team all the support they would need for a successful campaign in Russia.
He said: “You know they must come home with the cup; that is the ultimate expectation for Nigerians.
“The players are capable; we can spring surprises at any time.
“You can always expect the best from our team.”
According to him the Super Eagles are a good team and can spring surprises at any time adding that their task is to return with the coveted global trophy to Nigeria.
Asenuga, a football and Polo enthusiast said the national team achieved a big feat by the manner they triumphed over their group rivals to qualify for Russia 2018.
He said that having earned the berth in the final Mundial for the sixth time, the Eagles had to brace up and prove their worth to the Nigerian and international fans.
He said: “I am confident that they will do well and do the country proud; that is why it is important that every citizen supports them.”
He declined to mention if his organisation would commit to the team’s world cup chase but said that it would not be left behind in supporting them.
Asenuga said: “Yes, anything Nigeria we are always there; whichever way, support will come, I cannot really give a commitment right now.
“But you can be sure that for who we are and what we do we will not take the back seat in supporting the country.”
NAN reports that Mutual Assurance was a major sponsor of the four-day, six-nation Armed Forces International Polo Tournament held in Abuja for the fallen heroes.
Nigeria, Morocco, U.S., Pakistan, India and Egypt participated in the Polo event while the Warriors of Morocco edged out the Gallants of Pakistan 11 – 6 to lift the Heroes Cup.
