A former Chief Security Officer to late General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, has been condemned to death by hanging for his role in the death of Mrs. Kudirat abiola, wife of business mogul and winner of the annulled 1993 presidential election, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.
Al-Mustapha is to die alongside Lateef Shofolahan, a domestic servant of Kudirat, for conspiring with others to kill the late activist.
Though details of the ruling, which is ongoing, are still sketchy, one of those who admitted complicity in the killing, Sergeant Barnabas Jabila, better known as Sergeant Rogers, served as the government’s star witness in the case.
From South Africa came the news that one of the suspects in the October 1, 2010 bombing in Abuja, Charles Okah, has had his trial adjourned.
Okah’s trial will resume on October 1, 2012.
He is being tried in a district court in Johannesburg for terrorism.
