Players and officials of Nigeria Premier League side, Sunshine Stars, were attacked by armed robbers on Saturday.
The attack occurred at Izua in Ondo State around 6.30pm.
According to eyewitness account, the men of the underworld ambushed the team and carted away money, jersey and other valuables.
The team was on the road to Katsina-Ala where they are scheduled to take on Lobi Stars of Makurdi in Sunday’s NPL Week Five game.
The team’s Coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, said: “We were on our way to Katsina-Ala to honour our match against Lobi Stars.
“Somewhere around Izua, our bus broke down and while we were trying to fix the problem, the armed robbers came and attacked us.
“We lost all our money, jerseys and other valuables.”
With this development, the match may be shifted by the NPL board.
