Istanbul Basaksehir midfielder Arda Turan has been told that he must serve a 16-match suspension.
During last week’s fixture with Sivasspor, Turan reacted angrily to being sent off and expressed his frustration by pushing and abusing one of the assistants.
After assessing the incident, the Turkish Professional Football Discipline Board has decided to impose a lengthy ban, meaning that Turan will miss half of next season.
Turan – who has also been fined £6,800 – only linked up with Istanbul during the January transfer window and has contributed two goals in 11 league appearances.
Istanbul currently sit three points adrift of leaders Galatasaray in the league standings.
