APC wasting billions on propaganda – Jonathan’s aide

As the race to the presidential election gathers momentum, the Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Goodluck Jonathan, Prof. Ahmed Rufai Alkali, on Tuesday condemned the spending spree by the All Progressives Congress.
Alkali said the opposition is just wasting huge amounts of money on propaganda.
He made this disclosure in Minna at the Skills Empowerment graduate ceremony of 500 trainees and presentation of starter packs by the Aisha Babangida Youth Leadership Series.
Alkali said: “The funds being spent by the opposition, which runs to billions of naira, are enough to build some social amenities like universities, hospitals and establishing empowering centres in the country.
“Instead of the opposition to be constructing the nation, they are determined in destabilising the nation.
“For months now, in a bid to win the 2015 elections, the APC has been asking some questions.
“They claimed that this administration under President Goodluck Jonathan is not performing.
“They say we have not done well and that the transformation agenda is a lie.
“We hear all kind of lies and propaganda.
“Indeed, the amount of money they spend on propaganda in this country is enough to build universities, hospitals, roads and to better the lives of millions of Nigerians.
“But rather, they are destabilising our nation.”
Alkali further stressed that the Jonathan led administration has done well in every sector in the country, adding that the programmes done can be seen, touched and utilised.
He said: “They say President Jonathan have not done anything in this country.
“The question is: will they deny this government has constructed 14 universities in four years?
“The opposition tends to forget that apart from the 14 universities, the older universities and other tertiary institutions have been given attention.
“Is there any country in the world that has been able to build 14 universities in four years?
“It is a record in the history of Nigeria that cannot be denied.
“The government has also developed many sector of the economy.
“Will the opposition deny these facts?
“Will they deny that it did not happen?
“The programmes and projects we have done can be seen, touched and utilised.”
In her address, Hajia Aisha Babangida, daughter of former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, ‎said her vision is to see a prosperous nation with patriotic youths.
Babangida said she intends to fill the gap of unemployment and empower the future leaders in the nation.
According to her: “Two thousand youths and women are being trained in the pilot scheme at the Mariam Babangida Women Centre in Minna and 500 of the ‎trainees have graduated.
Babangida, who is the Chairperson of Aisha Babangida ABYLS, said the training provides skills in tailoring, catering, shoe-making, generator repairing, bead making, satellite installation, air-freshner and cream production.
She further stated that the she intends to spread the training across the country, adding that she wants all unemployed youths to be engaged and empowered.
