The Speaker, Zamfara House of Assembly, Alhaji Sanusi Rikiji, on Sunday said that the All Progressives Congress was strengthening internal democracy in the state.
Rikiji made this known to newsmen in Gusau while reviewing the Local Government congresses of the party in the state held on Saturday.
The speaker, who is also the Chairman of the Main Organising Committee for the congresses, said the congresses were held under very peaceful and conducive atmosphere without rancour.
He said that elections either within or outside the party would continue to be credible, free, fair and acceptable by the people of the state.
Rikiji commended the full participation and cooperation of members of the party during the Ward and Local Government congresses.
The speaker gave an assurance that the state congress scheduled for May 19 would also be free and fair.
He said: “l know that during exercises such as these, there are bound to be fall outs but we have so far not received any complain, written or verbal from any of our members.”
Responding to the alleged parallel congress organised by some members in Zamfara Central Constituency, he said, “We are not aware if anything like that has taken place in any part of the state’’.
The speaker, however, said that as true democrats, they were always ready to amicably resolve any problem that needed to be resolved.
