A former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has been cleared to once again become a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Despite the initial opposition to his being screened by the Senate by senators elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Obanikoro eventually made it through on Wednesday.
He was simply told to take a bow and go by the Senate.
The tradition in the Senate is to allow former senators nominated by the president for any position to just take a bow without taking questions.
But this led to a walkout by the APC senators.
The Senate was tense on Wednesday before the eventual clearance of Obanikoro.
Senators elected on the platform of the APC and Peoples Democratic Party opposed themselves on the issue.
Obanikoro was the last of the four nominees to be screened.
Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon had before Obanikoro was asked to take a bow and go raised a point of order against the move to screen the former governorship aspirant of the PDP in Lagos State.
Solomon was however overruled, paving the way for Obanikoro to scale through.
