ANC to Zuma: You must go now

The African National Congress has formally asked President Jacob Zuma of South Africa to resign.
The Secretary General of the party, which produced Zuma, Ace Magashule, told newsmen that the ANC’s National Executive Committee decided the removal should be “treated with urgency”.
Magashule said the leadership of the party wants Cyril Ramaphosa, who replaced Zuma as the leader of the ANC in December 2017, to take over the running of the country.
He said: “It is obvious we want Comrade Ramaphosa to come in as the president of South Africa.”
Magashule added: “The decision is now final.”
But Zuma told the Secretary General he “did not believe the NEC has the right” to make such a ruling.
Magashule said the president was expected to respond to the NEC’s decision on Wednesday, although they had given him no deadline.
There had been information in the early hours of Tuesday that the leadership of the ANC had asked Zuma to step down after marathon talks.
