The Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Ahmadu Guiade, has called for the support of pharmacists in the area of public enlightenment.
The NDLEA boss made the call while receiving members of Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria at the Agency’s headquarters, Lagos.
Giade said that they should take advantage of their closeness to the grass root in advancing the anti-drug abuse campaign.
According to Giade: “There is a huge challenge in the area of drug education, particularly at the grass root and as community pharmacists you are closer to the people.
“As professionals, I want you to help in drug education.
“This is important to prevent self-medication and other forms of drug misuse.
“Every opportunity should be used to intensify campaign to enable people make informed choices.”
The National Chairman of the Association, Pharmacist Adebayo Olufemi Ismail, who led the delegation, said that the purpose of the visit was to deepen working
relationship with the Agency.
Ismail said: “We want to partner with you in making your work easier.
“Pharmacists have a responsibility to render services to the people.
“We want to support the good work the Agency is doing in drug control.”
