A 19-year-old, Daniel Ehihebolo, was on Friday nabbed for posing as the South-South Zonal Coordinator for recruiting into federal agencies.
The suspect is cooling-off at the yard of the Department of State Security, in Asaba, Delta State.
Daniel Ehihebolo, had allegedly posed before unsuspecting members of the public for months as the recruitment officer into the SSS, Nigeria Army, West Africa Examinations Council and the Nigerian Police Force, and garnered huge sum of money through the means.
He was arrested on July 9 in Uromi, Edo State, following a complaint by a female victim of the recruitment scam.
He said he was swooped upon at one of the new generation banks where he had gone to withdraw some of the looted money.
Prior to his arrest, he uploads application forms for job seekers into the federal agencies through a coded website: www.tropix/forum.com, where an applicant pays N6,500.00 for a form at a designated bank account.
His accomplice, one Osayemwenre, a student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, also in Edo State, said the state Director of SSS, Florence Ikanone, is now at large.
According to Ikanone, the suspect was arrested, having swindled unsuspecting job seekers of some thousands of naira.
While she said the suspect had confessed to the crime and he would appear in court, on interrogation, he lamented how he was introduced into the illegal business by his friend and how they had fraudulently sold the forms for N6,500.00.
The suspect, who claimed to be a secondary school leaver from Ogwa Grammar School, Ogwa, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, said he was yet to fully understand the basics of the scam when he was nabbed.
He confessed: “My friend introduced me to the site.
“It involves people selling recruitment forms for the police, navy, SSS etc.
“I have not sold the forms but my friend had sold two for N6,500.00 each.
“My friend told me about it and I logged in and saw people selling the forms.
“I started using it for about two months and I have sent my account number to one person who has not responded in terms of payment.”
