Former national team sweat merchant, Shuaibu Amodu, has advised the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation against the proposed pay cut for the Super Eagles.
The veteran tactician who spoke during his visit to the Abuja camp of the national team on Thursday, emphasised on the need to encourage the players and the technical crew.
“These players offer so much to the nation and they should be well remunerated. I am not in support of cut in allowances of the players,” he said.
Amodu praised the idea of a totally home-based national side but urged the NFF to maintain their level of support for the national team.
To Keshi, he said the former Super Eagles skipper, who once worked with him as an assistant, has taken the most controversial and hottest job in the land and urged him to always be calm and develop thick skin towards critics.
He recalled his many battles with the media, some of whom he said just refused to see anything positive in him.
He said: “Some people just won’t like your face no matter how hardworking and successful you are.
“Keshi, should just learn to ignore such people and concentrate on his job.
“He’s somebody I know very well and I think he would succeed.
“But we must give him all the support to do so.”
