Aliyu sends five nominees to Assembly as aides resign

The Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, has sent a list of five nominees to the state House of Assembly for consideration and appointment as commissioners into the State Executive Council.
Aliyu, in compliance with Section 192 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), forwarded the letter to the Assembly on Thursday in Minna, the state capital, with the title: “Nomination for appointment as commissioners into the State Executive Council.”
The following names were contained in the letter as nominees: Ndayebo Danladi Mohammed from Gbako local government, who is the present Chief Press Secretary to the governor; Abubakar Tukur from Shiroro; Isah Liman Kantigi, who is the Chairman of Edati Local Government Area; Abdulkarim Suleiman Mazakuka from Mashegu Local Government Area; and Lawal Abbas Mohammed from Munya Local Government Area, a former chairman of Niger State Board of Internal Revenue.
The Assembly is to scrutinize their credentials for screening, which was scheduled for next week for onward recommendation for their appointment.
It was gathered that those who have submitted their resignation letters to contest elections in their various local government areas and constituencies would give way, while others were given up to the end of April to tender their letters.
In the same vain, the present commissioners who may likely leave the cabinet are Mustapha Lemu for Science and Technology, Ahmed Ibrahim Matene for Agriculture, Dr. Bashar Nuhu Moh’d from Shiroro and Clifford Shashere, the present Commissioner for Sports.
