Nigerian international, Joseph Akpala, led his Karabukspor side to a 2-1 victory over Turkish giants, Fenerbahce, in a Super Lig tie on Sunday.
Akpala opened scoring in the 13th minute, just as his Nigerian counterpart, Emmanuel Emenike, brought back Fenerbahce in to the game with an equaliser on the dot of the 40th minute of the encounter.
Karabukspor’s Ilhan Parlak stole the show on the 69th minute as he converted a spot kick to seal the victory for the modest side.
Fenerbahce still seats on top of the Super Lig with 38 points from 16 games while the victory has also pushed Karabukspor to 7th position on the log.
Emenike who had boasted to pick the three maximum points at stake, played for Karabukspor from 2009 to 2011 and he scored 30 goals in 50 matches, winning TFF League 1 title to promote the team to Turkish Super League.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles’ skipper and Fenerbahce defender, Joseph Yobo, was not considered good enough for the tie.
Elsewhere, ex-national under-23 skipper, Isaac promise, also scored in MP Antalyaspor’s 2-3 loss to his former club, Genclerbirligi.
