The Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Seyi Akinwunmi, has commended the Flying Eagles for lifting the African U20 Championship for the seventh time since inception.
Akinwunmi, who was at the Stade LS Senghor, Dakar to cheer the Manu Garba side to victory over the Junior Lions of Senegal, assured Nigerians that the NFF would support the team in their quest to conquer the world in New Zealand.
He said: “This team is the future of Nigerian football and we must ensure that they are provided all that is needed for them to make us proud.
“We are proud of the boys and their coaches because they are worthy ambassadors and we shall do everything in our power to support them.
“Let me also assure Nigerians that the preparations for the U20 World Cup in New Zealand would start almost immediately we are back in the country.
“We would ensure they proceed on trip and also facilitate the release of other key players that were not in Senegal.”
