Super Eagles’ winger, Ahmed Musa, posted a sterling performance despite his CSKA Moscow losing 1-2 in Russia to Manchester City on Wednesday in a UEFA Champions League tie.
CSKA tried to produce a rousing finish and City survived a scare when a superb strike from 18 yards, into the top corner, by Musa was disallowed for a foul.
Musa troubled City again with a weaving run but Hart was equal to his shot.
Sergio Aguero struck twice in Russia to push Manchester City towards the Champions League knockout stages.
Aguero edged ahead of his marker to grab his first goal of the encounter.
It was not long before City had a second, Aguero on target again to head a Negredo cross past CSKA’s goalkeeper, Akinfeev, from close range after confusion in the home defence from a throw-in.
It was the Argentinian’s eighth goal in his last six games.
City survived CSKA’s late rally and exerted enough control overall to suggest they could all but secure a last-16 spot with a repeat win at the Etihad Stadium in a fortnight.
