The victory of the Super Falcons over their Cameroonian counterparts on December 3 has been ascribed to the resilience and indomitable spirit of Nigerians.
Prince Eze Madumere, the Imo State Deputy Governor, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria while reacting to the victory.
Madumere, while congratulating the Falcons on their eighth victory as Africa’s women champions, said they were outstandingly better than the Cameroonians.
Madumere said: “The victory was indomitable spirit of Nigerians on display. The ladies showed skills, tact and above all played with focus.
“I must commend them for team spirit and for the synergy with which they played; I therefore congratulate the Falcons and Nigerians at large.”
Madumere, who noted that Nigeria was country blessed with abundant human and natural resources, said that defeat of Cameroon even on its soil was a demonstration of Nigeria’s superiority.
According to him, the Falcons have given us something to celebrate having become the 8th African champions by defeating dreaded Cameroon.
The deputy governor however called on Nigerians to continue to support the Falcons and other Nigerian teams.
He said that the country’s sports men and women had always represented the nation well in terms of international competitions.
