The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has been receiving tonnes of congratulatory messages after he was flown by his pilot son, Oluwatobi.
Adesina, who revealed the flight experience with his son on his Facebook page at about midnight on Monday, has had 174 congratulatory messages as at press time on Tuesday morning.
He had written: “On Monday, June 19, 2017, a day after Fathers Day, I had the privilege of being flown for the first time from Lagos to Abuja by my son, Oluwatobi Adesina, who is a pilot with Arik Airline. It was truly an extension of Fathers Day, as I had the privilege of sitting in the cockpit. Did I see anything as the Boeing 737 cruised through the azure sky? Not the foggiest thing. The wonders of our God, and of technology. To Him be all the glory.”
Most of the comments centred on the amount of work Adesina had put into parenting to have had his son become a pilot.
A rights activist, Nelson Ekujumi, wrote: “Congratulations that your job of parenting has paid off, may God also remember those of us who are congratulating you.”
Reputable journalist and House of Representatives member, Hon. Victor Afam Ogene, wrote: A unique experience… Indicative of success in an aspect of parenting, and on the flip side, the boy becoming the father of the man, literarily. Congrats, both of you.”
A former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Ibim Semenitari, eulogised Adesina as well.
Semenitari wrote: “The pride of a father. The joy of a fulfilled son. We bless the Lord who alone does all things well my brother.”
A cleric, Mobolade Omonijo, said: “What an interesting way to mark the day? May the Lord bless and keep him. May he make His face continually shine on you and all yours in Jesus name.”
A politician and journalist, Olaosebikan Kehinde, wrote: “Prayer, answered. Congratulations my brother. We shall all witness moments of joy, greatness of our children. It is gladdening.”
A public relations expert, Lanre Issa-Onilu, said: “Waoh! You got the world’s best Father’s Day gift. God bless Oluwatobi. Congrats sir.”
The Chairman of the Editorial Board of Nigerian Tribune, Dr. Festus Adedayo, said: “Congratulations! This should be one of the greatest gifts by providence to a father on fathers’ day. May he soar higher.”
A former Acting Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, Jide Adebayo, wrote: “Marvelous. May the winds forever be at peace with Tobi and Crew. A really special Father’s Day! Congrats.”
Another veteran journalist, Mike Awoyinfa, said: “Our children will fly higher and higher than us in Jesus name.”
The spokesman of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Isaac Okorafor, added his voice to the ongoing conversation: “What an experience. Many congrats, Dad and son.”
