Several powerful and prominent Northerners have declared their support for the presidential bid of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The influential Northerners politicians made their declaration at a conference of Tinubu Support Groups on Monday in Abuja.
Those who stood up in support of the ambition of the former Governor of Lagos State to rule the country at the main hall of the International Conference Centre in Abuja included a former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima; and a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation in the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration, Babachir Lawal.
Shettima, the representative of Borno Central Senatorial District, said Tinubu is the most qualified candidate in the party to replace President Buhari in 2023.
Lawal said supporting Tinubu would change the narrative of the insecurity, downturn of the economy and others ailing the country.
The Director-General, Bola Tinubu Support Groups Management Council, Abdulmumin Jibrin, said the gathering was interested in the massive mobilisation of members to ensure the emergence of Tinubu as the party’s presidential candidate.
