Three killed, houses burnt in fresh Nasarawa crisis – Police

The Police in Nasarawa State said on Sunday that three people were killed while many houses were burnt during a fresh communal crisis in the state.
The figure of independent assessors at the scene of the crisis, however, was far higher.
It was put between 30 and 50 by newsmen who visited the scene of the crisis.
The Commissioner of Police, Shehu Umar, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, on Sunday that the clash was between suspected members of Ombatse and Alago groups in Obi Local Government Area of the state
Shehu also said that the command had drafted a team of security personnel to the area to restore normalcy.
“Three persons were killed while many were injured during the clash, but so many houses that we cannot give account of for now were burnt,” he said.
NAN gathered that the crisis, which started on Thursday night at Angwan village, had left the area deserted.
NAN also learnt that many of the residents had sought refuge in neighbouring towns.
