The Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer Programme will by December enrol no fewer than one million beneficiaries nationwide.
Temitope Sinkaiye, the National Coordinator of the programme, disclosed this on Wednesday in Ilorin while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria.
Sinkaiye was speaking on the sidelines of the training programme for 216 facilitators in the state.
According to her, more than 300, 000 poor persons are currently benefiting from the N5,000 monthly stipend from the Federal Government.
She asserted that over N16 million had so far been disbursed to the beneficiaries since 2016 when it started.
Sinkaiye explained that six states had just joined the programme, adding that enrolment from those states would take the beneficiaries to 500,000.
She said: “We are hoping that before December, all states would have joined and by that time, the projection we have will be one million.”
She also said that the training was informed by the need to re-enrol the beneficiaries electronically.
