The Niger State Police Command on Monday said it had arrested 194 suspects and recovered 612 cows in the state in January.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Zubairu Muazu, disclosed this to newsmen in Minna during a briefing on the achievements recorded by the command for the period under review.
Muazu said: “A total of 194 suspects were arrested in January, among which are 24 most wanted kidnappers and cattle rustlers.
“We also recovered 612 cattle from some of the suspects and handed them over to their owners.”
He said that other items recovered from the suspects include: five AK 47 riffles with 648 rounds of live ammunition; 21 single barrel guns with 249 cartridges; one revolver riffle and five revolver short guns.
Other items recovered Muazu said, are six Ghana made pistols, one locally made pistol, nine Dane guns and other dangerous weapons such as axe, bow, arrows and knives.
