The Chairman of the Board of Rural Electrification Board, Senator Jonathan Zwingina, has resigned his appointment to enable him pursue his political ambition.
Already, the Minister of State for Power, Hon. Mohammed Wakil, has accepted Zwingina’s resignation.
Zwingina, a former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Works and Housing, resigned with a view to pursuing his political ambition of contesting for the Senate seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in Adamawa State.
A statement on Tuesday from the REA management, which confirmed the resignation, explained that the Minister of State for Power has accepted his resignation.
The statement added that the Minister has similarly approved some changes and promotions in the REA Management.
According to a circular issued and signed by the Deputy Director in charge of Human Resources and Administration, Blessing O. Egwu: “The Board Chairman resigned to pursue his political ambition of contesting for the senate seat under PDP in his Senatorial District, in Adamawa State.
Zwingina, who is a two term senator, first got elected into the National Assembly as a Senator in 1999 and was re-elected in 2003.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of the Board of REA, Hon. Umar Maude Hiliya, has been directed by Minister of State for Power to act as the new Chairman of REA Board, pending the appointment of a substantive Chairman by President Goodluck Jonathan.
The circular also stated that Engr. Sam Chundusu, former Director (Projects), has now been redeployed to the Directorate of Planning Research and Development as Director, while his counterpart formerly in the Directorate of Promotion (Information & Outreach) Engr. Mohammed A. Wasaram, replaces him as the Director (Projects).
In a related development, the former Head (PR&D) has been promoted as a Director and posted to take over from Engr. Wasaram as the new Director Promotions (Information & Outreach), while the Acting Director (Funds Management), Abike Solanke, and the Assistant Director (Legal), Francis B. Agwu, were elevated to Director (Funds Management) and Acting Deputy Director (Legal/Secretary Board) respectively.
