5,000 law students fail Bar II exams, appeal for intervention

About 5,000 law students who sat for the Bar II examinations of the Nigerian Law School have been declared unsuccessful by the authorities.
Only 7,000 students sat for the examination in the six campuses of the NLS.
The six campuses are located in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja; Kano, Kano State, Victoria Island, Lagos State; Enugu, Enugu State; Yola, Adamawa State; and Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Some of the students, who pleaded anonymity, said the authorities of the school programmed them for failure.
They accused the Director General of the NLS, Olanrewaju Onadeko, of deliberately plotting their downfall.
One of them said: “Even before the exams, it appeared there was a plot for us to fail.
“Some of the questions had 15 sub-questions.
“And the time allotted was not changed.”
They said for one of the courses they failed, the time allotted was reduced from one hour to 50 minutes, thus reducing their opportunity of answering the 100 questions for the paper.
Messages from the aggrieved students have since gone viral on the social media.
One of the messages read: “Please save the future of 5,000 law school students out of 7,000.
“Evil prevails when men fail to talk.
“Appeal to the Presidency to have these results reviewed.”
Efforts to reach the management of the institution over the weekend failed.
A management staff, who pleaded anonymity, told The Eagle Online that official explanation could only be provided on Monday.
