Government and commercial activities in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, were grounded on Friday.
This followed the imposition of a 24-hour curfew by the Joint Task Force in the state after suspected members of dreaded sect, Boko Haram, launched an attack on the Mobile Police Unit in the state.
Several persons were reported killed during the attack.
Owing to this, the JTF imposed a 24-hour curfew on the state.
Our correspondent in Damaturu reports that the streets are deserted in the state capital.
This is not the first time such an attack would be launched by Boko Haram in the state.
And this is not the first time 24 hours restriction would be imposed on Yobe State.
