A former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Bode George, has tackled the party’s candidate in Lagos State for the 2023 governorship election, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, over his choice of running mate.
The PDP chieftain spoke on the development on a Channels Television programme: “Sunday Politics.”
George said it was insulting for Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, to have denied that he did not agree to have Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour as his running mate, but went on to announce Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, as his deputy governorship candidate.
This development led to the exit of Rhodes-Vivour from the PDP.
He is now the governorship candidate of the Labour Party for the polls.
George told Sunday Politics on Channels TV: “I was told that he made certain comments about me.
“It is quite insulting for Jandor to say that he cannot say that I lied.
“It is better for him to accept the mistake he made rather than saying he never agreed to any pact to pick Gbadebo (Rhodes-Vivour) as his running mate.”
The Eagle Online recalled that Adeniran had before Sunday said: “Chief Bode George is our leader in Lagos and I can say that we really do not have any issues between us.
“I won’t say he lied.
“But I can tell you that there was no agreement anywhere.
“I think it defies logic to say you have an agreement with somebody and there was no public pronouncement to say you are withdrawing from this race for whatever reason.
“I won’t deny the fact that Baba (George) wanted him (Rhodes-Vivour) to be my deputy, but I ensured that I did not have any commitment with him on that.
“I dodged that.”
