The immediate past Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State, Dr. Haruna Dabin, says the state is in dire need of a courageous and determined leader who will succeed Governor Jonah Jang.
Dabin, who is a governorship aspirant on the platform of the PDP, made this assertion on Wednesday in Jos when he visited the party secretariat to solicit the support of the executives.
Dabin told party officials: “The state needs a courageous leader like Jang who will serve with conviction and determination to succeed him.
“I have been screened and given provisional clearance by the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja last Sunday to contest the gubernatorial primaries and by the grace of God I will succeed.
“But I’m here to seek for your support as my colleagues.”
Dabin promised to structure and develop the PDP offices across all the local government councils of the state if he wins the governorship poll.
He added: “Whatever happens on the 8th December, 2014, I will still remain in the party and work for the success of PDP in the 2015 elections.”
Responding, the acting Chairman of the PDP in the state, Hon. Raymond Dabo, represented by the Vice Chairman of the Southern Zone, Hon. Saidu Musa, commended Dabin for the visit and described him as a visionary leader who has served the party with passion.
Dabo said: “There was no financial record and offices, but during Dabin’s tenure everything has been organised with proper record and zonal offices operating in a conducive environment.
“He also made sure that all staff were properly taken care of at the end of every month.”
