The authorities of the Nigeria Police Force have finally issued clearance letters to its trainee Assistant Superintendents of Police and Inspectors after over three months of keeping them in the dark on their graduation day.
The trainees, who ought to have graduated since June 2013, have had their graduation postponed about seven times.
However, after the exclusive story by The Eagle Online on the fate of the trainees, the police authorities have started issuing them with their clearance letters, signifying their graduation from the Police Academy at the Police College in Wudil, Kano, Kano State.
The would-be graduates of the Police Academy were also given invitation cards with which they are expected to invite their relatives for the ceremony scheduled for September 2 and 3.
The invitation cards, however, bore August 17, 2013 as graduation day.
The would-be ASPs and Inspectors have been told to alter the dates to read September 2 and 3, 2013.
While the ASPs are of Course 25, the Inspectors belong to Course 40.
They resumed training on January 9, 2012 and were to have left camp early June 2013.
However, for reasons ranging from the death of Charity Oba, the mother of the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, to the Ramadan fast and the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, the trainees have been kept in camp beyond their graduation date.
