For the first time, Nigeria will be hit with the biggest platform dedicated to African inspired fashion, the African Fashion Week Nigeria.
The two-day spectacular show, which will be held between May 17 and 18, 2014 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, will showcase everything that defines fashion from an African point of view.
African Fashion Week Nigeria will give equal opportunity and priority to top fashion designers alongside new and emerging designers to celebrate culture, style and increase their passion for fashion.
This is an opportunity for all aspiring or emerging designers to use as a platform to showcase their talent to the right people.
Designers and exhibitors who want to participate are required to log on to their website, www.africafashionweeknigeria.com to download the application form.
The event, which will feature designers from the whole of Africa, offer those in the fashion industry a free platform on which to showcase their brands, act as an opportunity for fashion designers to network, create a portal for new designers to enter into the market and integrate into the international fashion system, highlight the African textile Industry to a global audience, enable African countries to showcase their national fabrics through their designers, make African textiles visible to the rest of the world and lots more.
Africa Fashion Week Nigeria will be attended by fashion designers, fabric manufacturers and printers, jewelers, photographers, make-up artists, models, media houses, buyers, press and indeed anyone that has any link with fashion, especially with an African interest.
African Fashion Week was created in London in 2011 by Ronke Ademiluyi, with impressive turnouts over the years.
AFWL has created an unparalleled platform for over 100 UK and non UK designers who have showcased their collections in London.
The First Lady of Ekiti State, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, was once the patron of the fashion show; the Nigeria-based architect and businesswoman, Princess Fifi Ejindu, was an ambassador; while Nigeria’s number one online music platform, iROKING, OH TV and FAB magazine went into partnership with the brand.
Globacom Limited and others were sponsors.
