The new Acting Director of Defence Information, Colonel Rabe Abubakar, on Monday assumed duty with a pledge to ensure robust information management.
Abubakar in his maiden press briefing, after taking over from Major General Chris Olukolade, said he would ensure robust and proactive information management.
He said: “Been aware of our security challenges and the need to tackle it, there is need for synergy, especially in the articulation of information management.
“You know that terrorists thrive on information and hence there is also the need to bring a counter communication and information strategy.
“You are aware that they are now in disarray and they don’t have central command because of what we are doing in the North East.
“We will pursue them and take them down.”
Abubakar assured journalists that he will be proactive and responsive in his media relations.
He also said he would adopt a positive and robust strategy in media and civil-military relations.
The new defence spokesman also assured the public that the armed forces was capable of ending insurgency and solicited the support of all Nigerians.
