Nine people have been confirmed dead and several others injured in the Fridaymorning bomb explosion that rocked Gombe Line Motor Park in Gombe, Gombe State.
Police said three suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The police said it would continue to do its best to ensure safety of lives and property of innocent civilians in the state.
Reports reaching The Eagle Online has it that the bombers attacked the park as passengers were boarding to travel to different parts of the country.
The bomb went off in a 10-bus, killing at least nine people and wounding many.
The Gombe State Commissioner of Police, Kudu Nma, confirmed that the incident occurred at 10am.
Nma said the explosive had been loaded onto the bus before it was driven into the motor park.
The Eagle Online correspondent, who went round the hospitals where the dead and injured were rushed to, reports that families of the dead have been coming to identify their relatives.
The Chief Medical Director of the Gombe Specialist Hospital, Dr. Reuben Ardo, also
confirmed to our correspondent that eight dead bodies were brought to the hospital.
So also were some of those injure attended to in the hospital.
Hospital sources, however, put the number of dead at 25.
In a separate interview at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, the Head of Department Accident Emergency Unit, Dr. Sani Adamu, also confirmed to our reporter that one of the victims who was admitted at the hospital died few minutes after he was brought in, bringing the official number of dead to nine.
The Chief of Staff in the Gombe State Government House, Alhaji Ahmed Yayari, described the incident as unfortunate.
Yayari said Gombe State is known as one of the peaceful states in the North East and it would remain peaceful to enable its citizens have a sense of belonging.
He called on the people of the state to remain calm as the state government would do everything possible to ensure that those behind the act would be prosecuted according to the law of the land.
