The Enugu State Government has promised to host the victorious Rangers International FC of Enugu in the first week of November, Foster Chime, Rangers Media Officer, has said.
Chime made the disclosure on Thursday in Enugu in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
Rangers won the 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League trophy.
Chime said the re-scheduling of the reception from October 21 to November was to accommodate the two weeks break embarked upon by the club’s players and its technical crew.
Chime said: “Enugu State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Charles Ndukwe, informed us that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi will now host Rangers International FC, Enugu State trophy winning team, in November.
“This is to enable players and coaches of the team come back from their two weeks break.”
Chime said that the reception would also be used to pay the allowances for injured and recuperating Rangers’ striker, Ifeanyi Egwim, who joins his teammates fully.
NAN reports that the win broke the 32 years jinx of the club not winning the Nigeria Professional Football League trophy.
NAN also reports that Rangers, the champions of 2015/2016 NPFL, will represent the country at the 2016/2017 African Football Confederation Champions League.
