The Court of Appeal, Jos Division has fixed March 13 for the hearing of the substantive appeal filed by League Management Company challenging the suspension of 2016 premier league.
The LMC is also challenging the reinstatement of Giwa FC into the league by the Jos High Court sitting in Bukuru.
The Justice Adamu Jauro-led three-man panel fixed the date on Wednesday when the appeal came up for ruling.
Jauro said the period would also allow the appellant and respondents to prepare their appeal and defence.
The lower court, presided over by Justice Ishaku Kunda, in September 2016 suspended the Nigerian Professional Football League pending LMC’s reinstatement of Giwa Football Club to the competition.
The court had on August 12 quashed the suspension of Giwa FC from the league by the LMC and directed the company to reinstate the Jos-based club to the league.
The LMC then approach the Appeal Court to set aside the ruling of lower court and maintain the status quo.
Kunda had ordered the committal of Shehu Dikko, the LMC Chairman, and Salisu Abubakar, the Chief Operations Officer, to 14 days imprisonment for contempt for failure to obey court order.
Kunda, who gave the order of committal, also issued a warrant against Dikko and Abubakar.
He said the duo had brought court of competent jurisdiction to disrepute by blatantly refusing to appear before it when they were ordered to do so.
Meanwhile, the presiding judge reserved ruling on interim injunctions filed by appellant praying the court to set aside some orders of the Bukuru High Court.
The interim injunctions were orders for committal and the bench warrant.
