Legislative aides working for members of House of Representatives and Senators took to the lobby section of the National Assembly on Wednesday to protest the non-payment of the September salary and other allowances, Newsdiaryonline is reporting.
Speaking to some journalists, one of the aides, Taye Olabanji, said their September salary and Duty Tour Allowance for 28 days since last year have not been paid.
Olabanji said: “When we approached the National Assembly Management, they said the money has be given to our principals but when we asked our principals, they said they are not aware of anything like that.”
He added that the DTA for 28 days was captured in last’s year budget and wondered why they have not been paid.
As at the time of sending this report, a Newsdiaryonline correspondent observed that the police were dispersing the aides, urging them to go and put their request in writing with the signatures of those protesting.
The policemen requested the protest letter to be forwarded to them.
