Super Eagles Captain, Joseph Tambarin Yobo, says he is happy at renewing the rivalry between himself and Mali captain, Seydou Keita, which dates back to the years when both of them featured for their countries at the U20 level.
Yobo said on Tuesday afternoon: “That is a long time now and it’s amazing that the world still remembers but really records matter little to me.
“I just want the team to do well.
“But I am happy that after several years both us are still playing active football and are the captains of our national teams.”
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s dreadlocked musical act, Flavour, who was in the stands when the Super Eagles shocked Ivory Coast out of the Afcon championship on Sunday, has said he expects Eagles striker and a personal friend of his, Emmanuel Emenike, to score more goals and power the country to the trophy.
Emenike, who has so far scored three goals for Nigeria, is in the running for the top scorer’s award and is known to be a personal friend of the talented musician, who shuttles between his Nigerian and South African bases.
Flavour is again expected in the stands to cheer his friend on Wednesday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa.
