Yobo commits future to Fenerbahce

Out of favour Super Eagles’ defender, Joseph Yobo, is willing to extend his contract with Turkish League giants, Fenerbahce.
It was gathered that the defender, who has fell in pecking order at the back line of the Yellow Canaries club, wants to stay in Istanbul for his son and family.
Reports have it that Cardiff City are interested in the defender as they want to strengthen defensively over the winter transfer window, after conceding the second highest number of goals in the league – 33.
Yobo has a lot of experience playing in England, having spent eight seasons playing for Everton.
The 33-year-old has struggled for playing time under new Fenerbahce manager, Ersun Yanal, and has only made one league appearance this season.
Fenerbahçe are facing pressure as competition for foreign spaces increase.
The Turkish Football Federation introduced a ruling last summer only permitting 10 foreign players per-club in the season and allowing only six foreign players on the field at any one time for the 2013-14 season.
The Yellow Canaries currently have 10 foreign players on their books.
Cardiff came close to signing Yobo last summer.
However, the 33-year-old was reluctant to move away from Istanbul due to his family having settled into life in Turkey.
“My son goes to school in Istanbul and my family is happily settled in the city. I have no intentions of leaving,” Yobo said.
Yobo is now reported to be open to a move in order to boost his chances of earning a recall to the Nigerian national team ahead of World Cup in 2014.
