Why I won’t canvass support for Jonathan – Danjuma

A former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Danjuma, on Wednesday paid a brief visit to President Goodluck Jonathan at the State House.
They both met behind closed doors for about 15 minutes.
For a very long time, General Danjuma has not visited the Presidential Villa.
Speaking with State House correspondents after the meeting, General Danjuma told them not to speculate, saying it was a private meeting.
However, he said he was at the State House to confer with the President on the situation of things in the country having been away for a long time.
He said: “Don’t speculate.
“I came to visit the President and find out how things are going.
“I have been abroad.
“I just came back.”
Danjuma had this to say when asked if he would canvass support for President Jonathan’s re-election: “I don’t canvass.
“I am not in any of the political parties.
“The President is the president of the country.”
President Jonathan on Tuesday met with former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, and former South African President, Thabo Mbeki.
