Achibong Ukoh, the father of Super Eagles new entrant, Steven Ukoh, has expressed satisfaction with his son’s progress with the African Champions in Dubai.
The senior Ukoh, who was the guest of the team at the Al Shaba FC training groundon Thursday, came away with smiles over his son’s sparkling display in training.
“I’m so excited that he finally decided that he will play for Nigeria and he’s already played a game and I will be here to watch him on Saturday,” he said joyously.
He thanked the Nigeria Football Federation and the technical crew of the national team for the opportunity given his son to thrive, saying that sooner than later, his son will become a permanent feature in the Nigerian set up.
Ukoh was recently cleared by world football governing body, FIFA, to play for the Super Eagles at senior level.
The Swiss U-20 international was born on June 19, 1991 to Nigerian parents in Berne, Switzerland, but has chosen to switch his nationality to Nigerian, so he can represent the his country of origin.
Ukoh, who currently plays for Biel-Bienne FC, has played for Switzerland’s at U-16, U-17, U-18, U-19 and U-20 levels between 2006 and 2010.
