Turkish Airlines has announced flight cancellations on some of its routes from April 5 to April 20 following the relocation from Atatürk Airport to the newly built Istanbul Airport.
The information on its website, https://www.turkishairlines.com, stated that all scheduled flights at Ataturk Airport would end on April 6 at 02:00hrs; all previously planned flights continue from 14:00hrs onwards from Istanbul Airport on the same day.
An official of the airline, who pleaded anonymity, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the airline would suspend operations to some destinations for five days beginning from April 2 to 6.
The source disclosed that the new airport would be opened to flight operations from April 6, while it was expected to commence operations at the Abuja new terminal on April 7.
The information on the airline’s website reads: “Due to our move to our new home Istanbul Airport, cancellations have occurred on some of our flights between April 5 and April 20, 2019″.
It added: “For further information you can visit our flight status page.
“Dear Passengers, You can access current information regarding your flights due to relocation operations to our new home, Istanbul Airport, via our flight status page with your flight number or route.”
According to the airline, Istanbul Airport stands out with its annual passenger capacity of 90 million in first phase and overall capacity of 200 million when on completion.
It added: “Providing flights to more than 350 destinations, Istanbul Airport is acknowledged as the new centre of aviation. Istanbul Airport promises maximum comfort to its visitors.”
