As the election draws close, so many questions have arisen and lots of confusion and indecision rent the air unabated. This political ceremony, which greets the affairs of the country since its inception in 1999, every four years, has lately developed a new dimension as a lot has been associated with its democratic festivity.
The wave of the current political issues ravaging every sphere of the country can best be clothed with the description of dumbfounded appellation. Like the jukebox where every arrangement of auto play has been set, many have resorted to the cheap semantic of illusive display via sentimental pity and revision of political history of the country. And the role played by our supposedly trusted politicians who held positions in different capacity of public offices.
With several threats to lives and perceived illusive peace, a lot of persons have taken over the mantle of decisive responsibility by relocating to their home town and villages pending on the outcome of the result of the election and the fragile peace, which will ensue if ever there will be any. If the truth is to be told, there is certainly no reason for such panic as election in other parts of the world is not a ticket to elimination or annihilation of the people in whose purpose the said election is held in the first place in order for the continuity of democracy to thrive uninterrupted.
One thing that every Nigerian needs to revamp from the circle of their ideological comic is the attitude of wistful forgetfulness. Getting or being carried away has emperically become an imbibed complacency trait of many political analyst and participants in the country. Hence, every Nigerian who appears to be aware of the current event in the country and always contribute by way of being conscious of the happenings in his or her environment usually have this attitude of always discarding the past and assume the position of new birth even when there is nothing to be implanted as dexterity into its midwifery of any impregnated spring in such assumed or presumed birth.
There are so many questions left unattended to and these questions may never get any answer till the end of time. A lot of complexity issues that ought to have served as alibi for proactive change of political attitude by some disgruntled politicians are swept under the carpet and since change which happens to be the only constant thing in nature has found its domain in the mansion built with rubies, these changes may never occur because the adverse effect of its mother factor was eliminated on arrival.
Misguided beliefs and disagreement have lately become the opium of the people whose mundane minds have been clothed with the mantra of assumption of winning the said election even before it is held or conducted.
Even some so called shameless elder statesmen and stakeholders whose duty it is to look out for peace and orderliness are so bold to stand on the platform of public glare and declare some unguided statement, threatening to form a rebellious government if the swing of the masses decision doesn’t go their favour. If these could emanate from these elders who are at the waiting lounge of eternal departure, what then will the youths who look up to some of them as role models do? If the foundation can be destroyed, what can the righteous do? What a shame!
This is a sad tale of a democratic enterprise whose journey is bound with several twines and as such may not arrive at the purported destination if the recent conceptualization and hateful analysis is not espunged from the democratic play. The truth as it stands is scarce and until this commodity is given a platform to exist, we may all have been dancing kpankpangolo round a square hole.
One thing is sure and certain: If the people who are called and true to their names will realize who they are and say no to the popular assertion of restiveness, the story will turn anew and peace and stability will embrace every corner of the country like it used to be in those days. While some youths are on the table of superior argument, others are on the ignorant verge of vengeful mission waiting to utilize whatever outcome as a vehicle to tailor whatever grievance they have nursed before now. In all, deceit is the major enigma that has continued to reign supreme, thereby causing and landing the ignorant ones into the pitiable state of political quagmire and assuage the informed minds with stories to tell and learn from afterwards.
In all, this is the best time to bring Daniel to judgment.
Rather than sail on the sinking canoe of popular sermon being delivered by one priest, let every Nigerian revisit the past and re-evaluate the performance of each intending political holders because many of them are vampires at heart but loyal in begging and seeking to be elected.
In a country where one major definition of personal aggrandizement supercedes the cravings of the people who voted the supposedly elected officers into power and who reposed confidence in them find their hope gliding into the gallows without any sign of rescue, such enterprise is best described as an irrecoverable hope.
In a country where by an elected officer stands on the podium to boast before the people of providing amenities for them as though it is his own personal earning, such tantrums are not only an aberration but an abysmal bizarre and total abuse of an office.
In a country where supposedly honourable members throw caution to the wind and resort to physical show of shame, such is best described as a lost in touch with current awareness.
A process whereby a senator deceives the people and promises to perform the duty of a governor just to be elected into an office, such an act is nothing but a scam and a sham.
A chamber that ought to be sacred has suddenly metamorphosed into a chamber where shameless display of idiosyncratic behaviour are given best attainable recognition with lies being told like truth is out of fashion.
While looters are celebrated and given chieftaincy titles in their villages and communities, the common man is sentenced to seven years imprisonment for stealing a fowl. Such requires revisitation of conscience and action.
With all these shortcoming and negative fall out, where lies the hope of the common man and the electorate that voted them into power? This is actually the best time to decide and review the report card of every member seeking to be elected without discarding this truthful commodity into the dustbin.
Their families are well packaged and sent abroad before the commencement of any election and they expect you to not just queue up under the scorching sun to vote but threaten to cause mayhem and make your environment unpleasant should they loose.
Don’t play by their books. Instead, decide their fate for them and send the unworthy ones to political retirement class. Such is a true practice of democracy.
Rather than allow their predictions of violence to come to play, let every Nigerian revert to the drawing board and make a mark of report of the above euphemism.
If every Nigerian as it stands today decides to narrow their conscience and be pragmatic in their reasoning, the need for an uproar will certainly be extinct and would never arise. Peace will not be an illusion if these scarce commodities are fathom out by the electorates. Do not allow yourself or that of anybody you know be used by these vampires whose deceptive appearance is clothed with selfishness and mindless of what you feel afterwards the election.
This should be the standard!
