The world’s No. 3 player sustained the injury in May during the second round of a clay-court tournament in Rome and missed the French Open.

The Japanese player has been fined £12,900 (€15,000) after deciding to boycott press conferences at the tournament. Osaka announced on Wednesday that she would not be conducting press conferences at the tournament, which began on Sunday and runs until May 13.

The former footballer, best known for his eight-year stint at Wimbledon when he won the FA Cup in 1988 and scored more than 100 goals in all competitions, spoke during his stint on Channel 4’s Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

“Uppermost in our mind has been the health and safety of all of those who come together to make Wimbledon happen – the public in the UK and visitors from around the world, our players, guests, members, staff, volunteers, partners, contractors, and local residents – as well as our broader responsibility to society’s efforts to tackle this global challenge to our way of life,” read the statement, posted on the official Wimbledon website.
