Police paraded five suspected vandals of the newly-constructed Second Niger Bridge before newsmen on Monday in Amawbia, near Awka, the Anambra State capital.

Suspected vandals have attacked the Birninkudu Water Treatment Plant in Birninkudu Local Government Area of Jigawa, beat up workers and stole items worth over N20 million.
Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three suspected vandals in the Tom Jones area of the state and recovered a minibus, two carts and bridge railings from them.
The suspects, which included the first son of a late Traditional Ruler in the area, were accused of vandalising transformers in Igweledoha, Ndufu Amata and Ekawoke, all in Ikwo.
A statement in Abuja by Ndidi Mba, TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, said assessment by TCN engineers revealed that the vandals carted away two spans of conductors, insulators and other accessories
The five suspects, who said they are scrap metal dealers, were intercepted inside a Vanagon bus with the registration number JJJ 929 EL by the operatives at 1:15am on Friday in Agege, Lagos State.
He said Lagos, being the logistics headquarters of the Air Force, should benefit tremendously from the helicopters, adding that such would go a long way in complementing the security architecture in the State on the land, water and in the air
It was gathered that the armed vandals, numbering over 20, positioned themselves in strategic positions in the creeks to wade off “intruders” and ambushed the policemen
Obaseki-Adejumo said this during a court session where 10 suspected pipeline vandals, who pleaded guilty to vandalism, were arraigned
“Some of the suspects have been prosecuted while others are still under investigation. The vandalised products recovered from them have been handed over to appropriate authorities,” the statement said
