The Governor offered the explanation in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, on Sunday.
Browsing: Tinted glass
He also directed officers to immediately enforce the order of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, on unauthorised use of vehicle tint permits, sirens and Police SPY Number plates
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba, on Wednesday said the clarification was necessitated by public enquiries following the Monday announcement by the IGP of the suspension of issuance of new tinted permits.
He also directed that the issuance of spy number plates be put on hold.
The ban was contained in a statement by DSP Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesman of the Command, on Tuesday.
The command also warned against covering of vehicles number plates by unauthorised persons.
This information was released on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, in a statement
Nwagwu also said that with the amendment, the recommendation for annual renewal of permits would, among other things, check abuse and indiscriminate use of vehicles with tinted glasses
While some of these arguments may sound persuasive or even plausible, they are unfortunately devoid of any known legal foundation. Nigerian Laws are unequivocal in their restrictions on the use of tinted vehicle glasses
