The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Police Commissioner in Anambra, Garba Umar, had confirmed that eight persons died and 18 others sustained various degrees of injuries in the attack.

In a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Enyinnaya Appolos, Governor Ikpeazu called on security agents to fully investigate the incident and speedily bring the perpetrators to justice.
