Dr Yerima Peter Tarfa, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, at the flagging off of the process in Abuja, stated that the Government of Nigeria had demonstrated the political will to ensure the achievement of Target 8.7 of the SDG, and “has shown enough readiness to address the challenges of the vulnerable groups, including eradicating Child Labour.” 

The Secretary of the SDGs in the state, Olukayode Adunmo, gave the warning after a two-day inspection tour of projects so far executed and completed under the 2018 intervention programme in four selected local government areas of the state.

The United Nations International Children’s Education Fund says gender equality means: “That women and men, girls and boys, enjoy the same rights, resources, opportunities and protections. It does not require that girls and boys, or women and men, be the same, or that they be treated exactly alike.”
