Speaking at the event on Saturday, Brig. Gen. Abdullahi Mohammed, Brigade Commander 13 Brigade, said the 24-year-old suspect was arrested at Umoh Orok Street in Calabar-South.
The security outfit was formed by Gov. Ben Ayade of the state to tackle all forms of illegality, especially kidnapping.
The government also destroyed a brothel for allegedly housing underage persons for prostitution.
Speaking after the exercise, Henry Okokon, the Security Adviser, South, to Gov. Ben Ayade of Cross River, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday that most recorded kidnap cases in Calabar were planned and coordinated from the hotel.
The team also demolished a brothel close to the popular Flour Mill junction in Calabar for allegedly harbouring criminals and consumers of illicit drugs.
The demolition followed the rescue of a medical doctor, Vincent Maduka, who was kidnapped on December 9 and rescued unconditionally by the newly-created security outfit in the state “Operation Akpakwu’’.
Code-named: “Operation Akpakwu,”,the outfit draws personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.
