The minister stated this on Monday at Anyigba, Kogi, while inaugurating a new laboratory complex and engineering workshop built by the Centre for Atmospheric Research, Anyigba.
Onu said such effort would assist the nation to produce enough energy needed to grow the nation’s economy.
Onu expressed satisfaction with the level of readiness, saying that he was looking forward its official inauguration.
He noted that producing a workable leather products policy would enhance the nation’s ability to reap the benefits of the leather sector, which is the second most important commodity in Nigeria after oil.
Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, the Minister of Science and Technology, made this known at a news conference on the forthcoming Technology and Innovation Expo 2018.
The FMST Minister, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, said the committee would need to engage in aggressive public awareness on Nanotechnology in all states of the Federation.

The minister, who made the remark in a message to the National Leather and Leather Products Policy Validation Workshop, said that the leather industry generates N24.5 billion annually.
Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, the Minister of Science and Technology, made the assertion when he addressed journalists at a world press conference on the forthcoming Science, Technology and Innovation Expo scheduled to hold from March 5 to March 9.
Abdul-Ganiyu Aminu, the Deputy Director of Press in the ministry, who made this known in a statement on Tuesday, quoted Onu as saying the effort was to ensure scientists harnessed innovation by utilising roadmap as an instrument of providing jobs.
The adoption was the high point of the outcome of the South East zonal caucus meeting held at the home town of the Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, in Uburu.
A statement issued by Edet Etuk, Assistant Chief Information officer in the ministry, quoted Onu as saying this while defending the Ministry’s 2018 appropriation with the Senate Committee on Science and Technology on Friday in Abuja.
Onu directed the committee to examine the locally-produced Medicinal Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate developed by Prof. Maduike Ezeibe, from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, and recommend appropriate strategy to facilitate its commercialisation.
Onu said the ministry was keen on implementing the roadmap, in collaboration with wide variety of stakeholders, including public and private research development centres.
